The Giver movie is a lot different from the book. In the book there is more explaining about why they take the memories away and why they’re dangerous. The book also has more details and it explains how the communities work. For example the kids are separated into different age groups, ones, twos, threes, etc. all the way up to twelves. In the movie they only mention the age groups but don’t go into it that much. Another difference between the book and the movie is Jonas and Fiona. In the book Jonas only has small feelings for Fiona but doesn’t tell anyone. However, in the movie Jonas tells Fiona about how he loves her and he tells her not to take her injection, Fiona then also kinda falls in love with Jonas. This is really just an example of how Hollywood always changes things to make it more “entertaining” and what they think people want to see even though people liked it how it was originally in the book. Overall The Giver wasn’t a bad movie but when it’s compared with the book, which it should be because the movie is based off of it, it wasn’t very good. I would recommend this movie to people who haven’t read the book but if you have read it stay away because it’s disappointing. Overall the movie gets a 3 out of 5 because the movie as a whole was good but it was changed a lot from the book.

The Movie was Amazing! The way the Movie is set up is different than the book. More scenes in the movie than there was in the book. The movie was great. Certain parts of the movie relate back to the book. Some parts like when Jonas did not take his medication. Some other parts too, like when he and the giver watched the morning release. The movie was amazing especially the transitions between the scenes of the movie. First it may be a scene were it is in a dwelling, then it will change to a scene outside the dwelling that is on the other side of the community. The changes in the music was amazing too. When action starts to build up so does the music. It will be the type of music that has a rhythm of someone running. Then if it’s a peaceful and calm scene the music will be soothing. I would recommend this to kids and adults. This is a type of movie that kids and adults would enjoy. It can can their attention and make them want to watch more. I recommend you watch The Giver.

When watching the Film and reading the Novel, The Giver, there were huge differences between both stories written. In my opinion, the film of The Giver is better than the novel itself. The reason being to why I think the film is better is because of its characters, yes, both characters from film and novel are similar, but in the film they showed more character traits when Jonas finally became the Receiver of memory. While in the book, the settings and examples of how the community looks like plain, in the film they showed more settings that the book could’ve told us. It looked more realistic and it was more detailed. And most of all in the film, it showed more suspense than the book. Many scenes in the book did made me feel emotional, but in the film, with the music, the characters showing different emotions, the action that was happening, it made me feel like if I was in the film. It made me feel more emotional than the book. So to those who want to are interested of The Giver, I suggest you to watch the film of it, because it showed more meaning of The Giver, but it’s completely fine if those find it a different option on it.

In my opinion the Giver novel was a lot better than the movie but the movie was ok. I thought it was interesting how they made certain characters more involved in the movie than compared to the book. At times the movie made me cringe and the acting was a bit over dramatic but the movie was alright. Some of the new things they added to the movie was really unnecessary like Asher dropping Jonas in the river it just felt like the writers thought the book was boring and the movie felt dragged out in the end. I watched this movie once and it was ok maybe like a 5/10 might be cause the movie had a low budget but it’s eh. Avengers was Better in my opinion.

The Giver book is different from the movie, I prefer the movie better than the book. The movie had more suspense than the book. The movie is different, in the beginning it throws a lot of information towards us, readers in the book it is spaced out more and it's going by a sequence of events. The theme of the movie and the book are both very strong and very meaningful. I recommend the movie but if you don’t like that the movie leaves out some events then I don’t recommend you to watch it.

In my opinion, The Giver book was better than the movie. The movie was great, but the movie felt as if it was rushed. It didn't have the details like the book. The book had all the details. The Giver book gave more explanation about the Community, the characters, and the main character. As to the movie, the movie didn't explain anything. I couldn't understand the beginning of the movie. As it went on though, it started to get better. The suspense in the movie was probably better than the suspense in the book. The movie and The Giver book were pretty good but the book was better than the movie. If you’re into drama science fiction, this is perfect for you. You should read the book first, if you ever see it then see the movie. You will see the difference between the book and the movie. Enjoy!

If you like a movie different from the book but can still somewhat keep the plot The Giver is for you. The Giver is the movie based on the book “The Giver” in which we see from Jonas’s perspective of his job and his community, that is supposed to be a utopia but plot soon leads to you deciding whether or not it’s a utopia. In The Giver, Jonas is given the job of receiver. His job is too gain memories from the Giver of the past. Some are good memories and some unfortunately are not so good. Jonas learns this and makes his own rash decisions in the end. The Giver movie is hardly like the book. It adds so much unnecessary details and scenes that were never even hinted at in the book. The beginning of the movie is very different and does not start how it does. How he got out in the ending is nothing like the book and they rewrote some key parts of the book for the movie. It’s kind of ridiculous how they added so much keep to it for no apparent reason. The movie had amazing visuals and blew me away but the plot did not stick to the book. They kept key points but added a lot more in that doesn’t take sense. It was a good movie cgi wise but was just completely different from the book. I did like the movie but am kind of mad at how much they changed it but I do understand why they changed it. I do recommend this movie to children and adults. It’s a movie for everyone. I would give this movie 4 stars The Giver, Phillip Noyce, Jeff Bridges, Brenton Thwaits, Odeya Rush, Cameron Monaghan, 1hr 40min, 2014, 35% Rotten Tomatoes, 3/5 Common Sense Media

In my opinion the book is better than the movie, the movie wasn’t bad, it was actually really good, only that it showed the community on a really different way than the way the book kind of tells you it is, besides this the book shows you a little bit more important details and important events that wasn’t show in the movie, another fact is that in the movie everything was extremely futuristic and it wasn’t exactly like that how it was shown in the movie, and this gives us a different perspective of how the community is and how it looks and this is not actually bad this is good because with the movie we have the opportunity of having an idea of how the constitution looks like. Overall both the movie and the book and movie are good, the book shows you a more specific and deep way to know the story and the movie shows you most likely how everything looks and works.

If you want a movie that show a whole alternative universe of the world! Your in luck! The Giver has an interesting setting, there are a little jokes but not “haha!” funny, it’s more of a surprising movie and drama (unless you’ve read the book already). It shows some not bad messages, well not too many, but if you have a keen eye and sight then it’ll be easy, any ways. This movie is not for everyone, the fact it does show some messed up scenes in the movie, it does not show too much blood in it though. If someone would ask me “what would you rate it” I’d say 7/10.

The Giver compared to the book is such a difference. The movie is more different than the book. Its more complicated. I personally like the movie better than the book. The ages of the characters in the movie are different then the book. I think it’s best for you to read the book first and then see the movie. That way it won’t be difficult for you. This movie was very interesting compared to the book. What caught my attention was there were certain things from the book that didn’t match the movie. I just wished that the book and the movie could possibly be the same.
